Order of Succession in Spain

The order of succession, contemplated in the Spanish Civil Code, is established in the following way:

1. Direct descendants (children, grandchildren).

2. Direct ancestors (parents, grandparents).

3. Spouse.

4. Collateral relatives up to the fourth degree.

5. The Spanish State.
