Legal modification of the mandatory use of masks in Spain

“Royal Decree 115/2022, of February 8, which modifies the mandatory use of masks during the health crisis situation caused by Covid-19, is abolished.”

In that specific way, the Official State Gazette (BOE), published this Wednesday, April 20th, 2022, has ratified the end of the masks two years after the start of the pandemic.

As specified in the document (Royal Decree 286/2022, of April 19th), the elimination of this measure is supported by "the evolution of the Covid-19 epidemic, favored by the vaccination coverage that has been achieved in Spain and for the application of non-pharmacological measures to control the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 by the population until March 2022 », which allows modifications to be proposed in the strategies to control the epidemic.
