The protection of the EU and Spain for Ukranian citizens

The new directive approved by the EU on the protection of displaced persons will automatically allow displaced Ukrainians to reside, work or study in the European Union for one year, extendable up to three, without having to apply for asylum. They can also access the benefits provided for in the reception and medical care system. Children under the age of eighteen will also have the right to access education under the same conditions as nationals of the host EU country.

The access procedures in Spain include a first evaluation of the needs of each family and the subsequent referral to a shelter place. For this first assessment, they must contact the entities that provide services in each province (Spanish Red Cross, CEAR or Accem). The website of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration offers telephone contacts that work 24 hours a day.
