Guiding Tables for the Determination of Alimony in Spain

The need to avoid excessive discretion that generates legal insecurity, as well as the need to introduce a criterion of objectivity or "canon" in the proportionality trial that, in addition, makes the judicial response more predictable, were the considerations that led to the decision and preparation of the Guiding Tables for the Determination of Child Support in Family Processes prepared by the General Council of the Judiciary.

These Tables are based on data from the National Institute of Statistics on the cost of supporting dependent children economically (Section 2 of the explanatory report).

The Council also offers an online computer application of the Tables to carry out the calculations of each case in a simple way.
