Spanish nationality for asylees

Those people who are asylees or political refugees in Spain can apply for Spanish nationality after five years of legal residence in Spain.

For its part, the residence must be legal, continuous and immediately prior to the application. Except for those who are married to a Spanish citizen and who can request it after a year of legal residence.

However, when they apply for Spanish nationality, in addition to the general documentation stipulated in article 22.4 of the Civil Code, they must provide a certificate or resolution from the asylum and refuge office of the Ministry of the Interior.
